Here's what you as a homeowner need to know about BC assessments. You'll need to act now if you want to appeal, otherwise you'll be paying high property taxes.
The BC assessment of your home is not the current market value of your home. This is reflective of July 1, 2022.
It does not take into consideration whether you have done any renovations to your home. Its simply calculated from nearby sales around that time.
Ultimately the purpose of this is for the City to determine how much property tax you are going to pay.
Keep in mind that you are able to appeal the assessment if you feel it is too high or low. If you'd like to appeal the assessment, the deadline to do that is January 31, 2023.
